Privacy

Effective 25 October 2026.

Division Alpha (divisionalpha.net and its iPhone app) keeps three promises about your data. It is encrypted. It is never sold. It is used only for the members. This page says what we collect, who handles it for us and how to reach us. The longer version, for members, is Your data.

What we collect

  • Your account. Your name, your email and a password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash.
  • What you write. Your answers to Katib, your tasks, your reports, your reflections and your messages. These are encrypted before they are stored.
  • What you do in the app. The tasks you report, the calls you attend, the pages and cards you open. This record keeps the length of a message, never its words.
  • Your place, only if you allow it.Your phone’s location, rounded to about one kilometre, so the Order can show you what is near you.
  • Your membership. Whether your seat is paid, and the amount. Stripe holds your card; we never see the card number.
  • How you found us.The page and link that brought you, and the visits before you paid. See “Site statistics and cookies” below.

Who handles it for us

  • Our own server holds the database. We run it ourselves.
  • Cloudflare carries every request to the site and runs our site statistics.
  • Stripe takes membership payments.
  • Brevo sends our emails: sign-in codes and notices.
  • A language-model servicewrites some of Katib’s words. For a daily task it is sent your saved answers and recent tasks and reports; for a private question, recent messages from your conversation with Katib.
  • TypeSafe picks one answer from a short list we wrote, for small checks such as whether a message is fit to deliver. It writes nothing.
  • Jitsi(meet.jit.si) runs the table’s voice call, which opens in a new tab.
  • Your browser or Apple delivers notifications, if you turn them on.

None of them buys or is given a copy of the database. Each one receives only what its job needs.

Site statistics and cookies

We count visits with Minilytics, open-source software we run on our own Cloudflare account at stats.divisionalpha.net. No analytics company receives these numbers. It records the page, the site or link that sent you, your browser, device and rough location (country, region, city), how long a page stayed open and clicks on links that leave the site. When you pay, we link the payment to those visits, so we know which post or page brought you.

  • ml_vid: a random visitor number, kept for one year.
  • ml_sid: a random visit number, kept for thirty minutes.
  • Sign-in cookies: they keep you signed in. The site cannot work without them.

The site works the same if you block the two statistics cookies, or block stats.divisionalpha.net, in your browser.

Who sees what

You see everything about yourself. Your table sees your reports and who came to the call. The rest of the Order sees your rank. No other member sees your private conversation with Katib, your saved answers, your reflections or what you looked at.

How long we keep it

We keep your record while you are a member and after you leave, encrypted, so you can come back to it. We do not clear it on our own. You can ask us to erase it at any time (see below).

Your choices

  • Edit or clear your saved answers to Katib in Table or You.
  • Turn location and notifications on or off in your phone or browser settings.
  • Pause or cancel your membership in You.
  • Write to [email protected] from the email on your account to ask what we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, or to have it erased. We answer within 30 days.

Erasure. When you ask, we close your account and erase your name, your email, your location, everything you wrote and your site statistics. Totals that name no one may stay. We keep a record of payments only as long as tax law requires, and Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own policy.
